Barbara A. Rollins, 94, of Des Moines formerly of Fort Dodge died Tuesday, November 12, 2024, under hospice care at her home in Des Moines. Services will be 2:00 PM on Monday, November 18, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Dodge. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Monday at the First Presbyterian Church. A private burial of cremains will take place at Oakland Cemetery in Denison, Iowa, on Tuesday.

Barbara is survived by her two daughters, Cindy (Randy) Jordan of Des Moines and Leslie Rollins of Los Angeles, CA, and her son, Jeffrey (Diane) Rollins of Fort Dodge; six grandchildren, Jarred Rollins, Lindsay (Steve) Gelder, Lucas Jordan, Ashley (Ben) Watson, Lesa Jordan, Dora (Lance) King, and Jessica Clark; 11 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell in 2001, her parents, brother and sister-in-law, George (Maxine) Morris, sister and brother-in-law Margaret (Bill) Clark, two nephews, Sterling and Craig Morris, and 19 Sawyer first cousins.

Barbara Alice Morris was born November 22, 1929, in a farmhouse near Winterset, Iowa. She was raised in Winterset and attended rural school and graduated with the class of 1946. She attended the University of Iowa and was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. Here she met her husband of 51 years Wendell Rollins whom she married on December 18, 1949. Following Wendell’s career in education they lived in Bode, Iowa, moving to Audubon, Iowa in 1952. After Wendell completed his master’s degree and accepted the position of Director of Libraries at Iowa Central Community College, they moved to Webster City in 1969 and later to Fort Dodge in 1976.

Barbara was a secretary and office manager through the years at North Central Alcoholism Research Foundation for 14 years before her retirement. After Wendell’s death in 2001, she continued living in Fort Dodge until moving to Des Mones where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law and spent winters with her daughter in California.

Barbara and Wendell enjoyed traveling after retirement to every state and Europe visiting ancestral homes in Ireland and England. Barbara was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Deborah Women’s Circle, and Webster County Retired Teachers. She was an avid reader and master of daily crossword puzzles. Wendell and Barbara were avid Hawkeye fans and attended many football games over the past 52 years. She recently had become a big fan of Caitlin Clark.

Memorials can be left to the discretion of the family or the First Presbyterian Church.
