Marietta Page, daughter of Miller Rouse and Etta Berry, was born July 22, 1908 at Russell, Iowa, and departed this life on June 29, 1989, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center, in Des Moines, at the age of 80 years, 11 months and three days.
She was united in marriage to Thomas E. Donahue who preceded her in death. To this union were born three children, Jim Donahue, of Lansing, Kan., Dorothy Stearns, of Chariton, and Jerry Donahue of Boone.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, brothers Rolly, Edward M., and James R., and two sisters, Nellie Logsdon and Verna Baze.
She was united in marriage to Lester Page Sept. 6, 1951
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Lester; one daughter, Dorothy; two sons, Jim and Jerry; one daughter-in-law, Marguerite; one sister, Ferne Swanson, of Chariton; a brother, Sam, of Plattsmouth, Neb., 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
She spent most of her life in and around Lucas County. She was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed cooking and preparing meals for friends and loved ones. Whenever a helping hand was needed Marietta was always available until she lost her strength and eyesight in recent years. She will be sadly missed by those who knew her and loved her.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, July 3, 1989, at the Fielding Funeral Home with Elder Vernon Kent officiating. Serving as bearers were Bob Goben, Chris Hall, Donald Hall, Gerald Allen, Wayne Hooker and Donald Stover. Interment was in the Chariton Cemetery.
