OBIT;Mary Catherine Allen, daughter of John and Louisa(Greenlee)Allen was born near New York,Wayne Co.,IA.on Oct 13, 1854 and passed away in Russell, December 26, 1935 at the age of 81 yrs 2 mo and 13 da. She was the youngest of 10 children and the last surviving member of her family. On Oct.24 1875 she was united in marriage to Wm.H. Kenton. To this union 4 children were born all survive and live near Russell. They are Mrs.Nevada Foster, Mrs. Ada Ashba, John W. and Martin J.Kenton. Soon after her marriage she and Mr.Kenton moved to Brown Co.,KS where they lived for 8 yrs. then returned to Russell and that place has been her home since. When quite young Mrs.Kenton accepted Christ as her savior and has since lived and exemplary and consistent christian life. For many years she had been a member of the Christian Church at Russell. She has been in ill health for several months but has been very patient and uncomplaining and appreciated greatly the tender care accorded to her. She was a kind and devoted wife and mother and a true friend and splendid neighbor. Besides her children she is survived by 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and other relatives. Her husband preceeded her in death on July 3, 1926. Funeral rites were held at the Russell
Baptist Church the Sunday following and burial in Russell Cemetery. Row 25 #38.
