Miss Harriet Ruby, daughter of Silas Ruby, died at the home four miles west of Grandview, Thursday, July 19, 1907, at 1 p. m., aged 12 years and 9 months. Deceased suffered intensely from a stone in the bladder and was ill for five weeks. She was to have been taken to the hospital in Muscatine for an operation, but owing to her, weak condition she could not be moved. Dr. Wall of Wapello performed an operation for the relief of the patient Friday noon, but she passed away while under the influence of the anesthetic. The funeral took place from the home, Sunday forenoon conducted by Rev. J. E. Newsom of this city. Interment in Harrison cemetery. We understand that this is the eighth child which Mr. and Mrs. Ruby have buried out of a family of twelve.
