Page 1Mrs. Robert Metcalf, of Columbus City, died last Friday, March 1, 1907, after a four days' illness with pneumonia. She was born in Albany, N. Y., Nov. 18, 1849 and 57 years, 3 months and 11 days of age, and had resided in Columbus City since she was nine years of age. Her maiden name was Nancy Jane Baker. The funeral was held at the Christian church Monday at 2 p. m., conducted by her son in law, Rev. J. C. H. Light, pastor of the United Brethren church in Muscatine, at her request. Her daughters, Mrs. Nellie Bretz, of Mt Pleasant and Mrs. Carrie Light, wife of Rev. Light, were present during her last hours. Besides her daughters she is survived by her husband and one son, William; another son, Charles, having died in childhood. She was a good woman, a devoted member of the Christian church for many years and was highly respected in the community, as the great crowd present at the funeral testified Interment was in the Columbus City cemetery.
