Page 1William F. Orr, of Columbus Junction, a veteran of the civil war, passed from this life to the great beyond March 2, 1907, in his 65th years. He was a native of Tennessee, having been born in that state Aug. 4, 1842. He came with his parents to Iowa when but two years of age. They settled near Columbus City and he has ever since been a resident of that community. Mr. Orr was a member of Co. C., 11th Iowa Volunteers, during the civil war and served one year. He was married Sept. 17, 1863, to Miss Thresa Shaw. To them six children were born, of theses but three are living. Those surviving the father are Mrs. Luella J. Crow and Albert Orr, of Muscatine and Fred Orr of Columbus Junction. Besides these he is survived by eleven grandchildren.
Mrs. Orr died July 11, 1896 and Nov. 29, 1900, he was again married to Mrs. Hattie Butcher, who survives him. Besides the wife and children he is survived by one sister, Mrs. C. H. Pickens, of Ainsworth and one brother, Robert, who lives near Columbus Junction. The funeral was held from the home at 10 o'clock Monday morning, conducted by Rev. R. D. Pool. Burial at the Foster cemetery. The G. A. R. attended the funeral in a body.
