Samuel F. Wilson
Elected state senator November 2, 1926, from the twentieth district, composed of Muscatine and Louisa counties, passed away at his home near Morning Sunn, Iowa, February 21, 1927. He was able to serve but a few days, being compelled to return to his home because of illness. He was born September 2, 1869, on the homestead which his grandfather procured from the government in 1839. He lived near Morning Sun all of his life, having purchased a part of the homestead in 1902, on which farm he resided at the time of his death. On March 4, 1897, he was united in marriage to Almina Elliott of Morning Sun, who survives him. Two children were born to this union, Harold E. Wilson, now an attorney at Muscatine, and Samuel Kenneth Wilson, residing on the home farm. He was active in public affairs, was for twenty-five years an elder in the United Presbyterian church, and served as township trustee, county supervisor, president of the board of education of the Morning sun consolidated schools and as an organizer of the farm bureau movement in Louisa county.
