Charles Weare-
Charles Weare, of Cedar Rapids, a brother-in-law of Rev. Carroll, of Wyoming, was appointed consul at Vera Cruz, Mexico, by President Harrison, and some three weeks ago started for that ancient city, where a six thousand dollar per annum job awaited him. The trip to the city of Mexico was an interesting one, and his visit in this city delightful. But he found Vera Cruz eleven thousand feet lower than the city of Mexico; found typhoid fever, Mexicans and Indians together with noxious weeds, venomous serpents, a torrid climate too much for him, and he informed the old consul that he could hold the job and returned to Cedar Rapids and forwarded his resignation to the State Department. Mr. Weare will be more contented with Cedar Rapids and Iowa hereafter.-Wyoming Journal
