Merle Kenneth Peterson, 74, of Titonka, died Sunday (April 12, 2009) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.
A memorial Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wesley, with the Rev. Randy Schon officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Titonka.
==============================Merle Kenneth Peterson was born January 26, 1935 son of Ernest and Martha (Paulson) Peterson. He grew up in Titonka graduating from Titonka High School. Merle then served in the United States Army being stationed in Germany.
Merle was united in marriage to Irene Haugh on November 25, 1960 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ayrshire, in a double wedding with Rose Mary Haugh and Larry Rustan. He worked as a parts man at Bauer Implement in Wesley for many years and then for Farmers COOP Oil Company in Titonka. For the past 20 years, Merle was as a salesman for DuroTest Lighting and the Lighting Connection until his recent retirement.
Merle loved his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed playing cards, bowling and going to garage sales. Merle K. Peterson died Sunday, April 12, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa, Mason City, at the age of 74.
He is survived by his wife Irene Peterson of Titonka; two daughters, Pam Mefford and her husband Steve of Urbandale, and Lisa Anders and her husband Mark of Urbandale; two granddaughters, Alyssa and Emily Mefford of Urbandale; a sister, Lucille Koppen of Buffalo Center; a brother, Gene Peterson of Fort Dodge; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Delores Ricklefs and Lela Bentley; and two brothers, Larry Peterson and Richard Peterson.
