Joseph STONEBRAKER was born January 26, 1831, in Montgomery County, Indiana. He was married to Margaret J. BAYLISS, January 4, 1852. To this union were born four sons, Franklin Pierce, George C., Francis Marion and James P. The second and fourth sons, George C. and James P., died in infancy. Mr. Stonebraker is survived by his wife, Margaret, and two sons, Franklin P. and Francis Marion, who reside east of Hayesville. Mr. Stonebraker came to this state in 1869, where he has since resided most of the time. Soon after coming to Iowa, he united with the German Reform church in Louisa County. He has followed farming throughout his life as an occupation. Friday, May 27, 1904, he was taken with a third stroke of paralysis and died very suddenly. His last moments were spent in apparent communion with the same Savior who is the Comforter of the hearts of the bereaved family. Mr. Stonebraker passed away at his home at the age of 73 years 4 months and 1 day. The funeral services were conducted from the Hayesville M. E. church, Sunday May 29, at 11 a.m., Rev. O. HARMON, assisted by Rev R. Vernon PIKE officiating. The remains were interred in the Pennington cemetery. The whole community extends to them their heartfelt sympathy.
