Rita, going back I seem to be a bit confused now. Using your leads I was able to find Emery in the 1870 Walworth County, WI census as E.L. Muncell. He was working as a railroad hand and living in a bording house. His birth year c.1843 matches with what I have from the 1900 census that says he was born June 1843 but you say he was born 1848. His wife Mary Foster (you show Eliza Foster) is seen as Mary Munsell born c.1848 in Wisconsin (LDS says Dover, Racine Co., WI which is the county they married in 1870) as a domestic in another town but no children yet.
I have a child named Velmer Clair Munsell shown born April 1874 in Wisconsin in the 1900 census who married Orin Jay Meade (1869-1951) but is supposed to be the daughter of Mary who died 1871. Of course that is impossible and Emery remarried in May 1874 in Jones County, IA to Angeline Whitten. Velmer would have been already born by then by a month.
They did have a daughter named Minnie E. Munsell born in WI c.1871 so this must have been Mary's daughter but why do they show 3 children in the 1880 Oxford Mills, Jones Co., IA census with all born in Wisconsin, the youngest being 1 year old while Emery is married to "Angie" then whom he married in Iowa?
So, who does Velmer belong to Mary or Angeline or is the 1871 death year incorrect and should be 1879 for Mary Foster?
Jim
