I found this posting and realize it was posted many years ago so maybe you found the information that you need.
The State Historical Library of Iowa in Des Moines has extracted from original death certificates information for most of the counties. They have Jones county 1932–33. You can request a copy of the certificate and get all the information or use the extracted information. Here is what they have for John B. Oswald:

Name: Oswald, John B.; born 26 Feb 1864 in Belgium; died 27 July 1932 in Jones county, IA; mother’s maiden name: Haas; certificate # C53-0094 D2671

Copies are only $0.25 if you are at the library but if you request by mail there are research fees. I do not know what sort of arrangements they have at the State Historical library in Iowa City.
