The people of Scotch Grove were thrown into an unusual state of excitement, last Sunday, by the incursion of tramps. Three of these perambulating vagabonds entered the house of Mr. White, while the family were absent at church, and helped themselves to victuals. One of them refused to have anything to do with the clothes stealing. One of the other two appropriated a clean shirt of which, according to our informant, he was sadly in need. Mr. White. Learning that his house had been robbed, immediately left the church and, with a number of his neighbors, started in pursuit. The scamps broke for a cornfield some distance away nut were overhauled in a meadow and promptly taken in custody by Mr. White who started the two plunders toward Anamosa. But arriving at the county house, after conferring with John Palmer and considering the forlorn appearance and distressed condition of the prisoners, they made them swear to lead virtuous and cleanly lives in the future, advised them to strike out for the nearest river and threat themselves to the luxury of a bath and then let them go. - Express
