Emma Lou Wegmuller was born in Iowa City, Iowa the daughter of Alphons and Helen (Kinney) Wegmuller. Following graduation from high school in 1959, she began working in various different jobs, different employers and different towns, from waitressing at the Highlander and Lark Supper Club, dog grooming at Green Valley Veterinary Clinic in Creston, working on farms near Oxford and Afton, downsizing to an acreage near Blairstown, jack of all trades at Sleepy Hollow near Oxford and of course being the boss no matter what she was doing. Emma Lou knew what work was and was not afraid or above doing whatever was needed to get the job done. But she would also say all work no play makes for a dull day, she enjoyed much. Supporting everything her children and grandchildren were involved in, especially the Cosgrove Hustlers 4-H chapter. Her dogs and granddogs were always the focus of attention, she enjoyed collecting and going to flea markets, but bottom line, her family and friends were her world!

Her family includes her children who she cherished being Mother to: Mike Downes (Mary Kay), Julie Lang, Genette Campbell (Mark), and Dana Huffman (Rowdy); grandchildren who affectionately called her Grammy: Cassie Redmond (Demetrius), Evan Downes, David Fox, Coen Huffman and Shelly Gardner (Joe); Great-Grammy to Arden, Elizabeth and Mia; Emma Lou’s sister, Dolores Kelly; and several nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Larry and their son, Pat Downes.
