Dennis E Hrynkow, 80, of Iowa City, formerly of Dubuque & Raleigh, NC, passed away on January 22, 2025 at UIHC.
A celebration of life will be held at The Coralville American Legion on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM with a time of sharing to begin at 3:00 PM. A private family graveside service with military honors will take place in Forest Park, IL, where he will be buried with his parents. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity in his honor.
Dennis Edward Hrynkow was born on November 6, 1944, in Oak Park, Illinois to Michael and Hazel (Schultz) Hrynkow. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High, the home of the Rams, before earning a bachelor's degree in business administration from The University of Dubuque. Dennis served in the US Marine Corps for 2 years, until being honorably discharged in 1969.
He worked for A.Y. Manufacturing Company in Dubuque before receiving his Insurance License. Dennis began working for Life of Mid America Insurance Company in Dubuque, IA, lntegon Corporation in Winston-Salem, NC, and then worked as an Insurance Auditor for the State of North Carolina up until his retirement in 2005.
Dennis enjoyed the beaches and sun in North Carolina. He liked to collect things and may have even been considered a hoarder. However, he would share anything that he could. He was liked by many and will be missed.
Dennis moved to Iowa City to be near his twin sister, Doris, due to his health in 2012. She cared for him up until his death while living at Walden Place and Melrose Meadows while in Iowa City. Dennis was loved by so many no matter where he lived and could make friends with anyone.
He is survived by his daughter Lori Hrynkow of Pleasant Hill, CA, son Edward Hrynkow of Clover, SC, grandchildren Cecilia and Phelicia, twin sister Doris (Milton) Anderson of Tiffin, IA, and sister-in-law Marsha Hrynkow of Omaha, NE.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Thomas and Ronald Hrynkow, and sister-inlaw Dorothy Hrynkow.
