Carolyn Louise Barger, age 77, of Iowa City, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2025 at Lantern Park Specialty Care,
She was born on November 5, 1947 in Iowa City to Tom and Mary (Martin) Kadlec. Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her best friend of many, many years, Linda Tomkins. She also loved to travel to Las Vegas with her brother, Tom and to Wisconsin to spend time with her son and family.
Carolyn was a thoughtful, generous person who chose to donate her body to the University of Iowa Hospital for research. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. We take comfort in knowing she is at peace as our hearts mourn the loss.
She is survived by her son, Richard (Kris) Barger; her grandchildren: Alyssa, Zoe, and Ryker; her great-grandchildren, Oliver and Archer; her brother, Tom; her best friend, Linda; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in joining the Lord by her parents; her sister; and a grandson.
A private family service will be held to celebrate Carolyn’s life in her memory.
