Funeral services for James S. Maxey, 73, Iowa City and formerly of North Liberty, were held Feb. 24, 1987 at the Donohue-Lensing Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles Downing officiating. Burial was in the Ridgewood cemetery.

Mr. Maxey died Feb. 22 at the Johnson County Care Facility after a short illness.

The son of Arthur and Grace Huffman Maxey, he was born April 10, 1913 in Johnson county.

Mr. Maxey is survived by a brother, Stephen Maxey, Iowa City; 6 sisters, Mrs. James (Irene) Funk, Mrs. Charles (Anita) Funk and Doris Stanfield, all of Iowa City; Hazel Vrchoticky, West Branch; Mrs. Maynard (Betty) Brogan, North Liberty and Mrs. Maynard (Nina) Matthess, Tipton and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers.
