Edith I. Wille age, 97 longtime resident of Solon, died Sunday, August 25, 2024.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Friday, August 30, 2024, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with burial to follow at the Oakland Cemetery in Solon. There will be a time of visitation beginning at 9am on Friday until the service time. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established to support causes important to Edith and her family. Edith was born July 17, 1927, in rural Iowa County, Iowa the daughter of Herman and Ida (Mass) Von Ahsen. She married Adolf A. “Shorty” Wille on January 5, 1947, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg, Iowa. Edith not only took care of the home and her family, but for over 38 years she drove school bus for Solon Community Schools. Edith would smile when the parents of the little ones shared with their children that she also drove them in her school bus when they too were children. She simply loved driving the children to and from school, but it was always so much more than just driving!

Edith’s family includes her living children, Dale Wille (Barb), Curt Wille (Julie) and Mary Bartlett (Bob Kuncl); daughter-in-law, Cindy Wille; 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Vera Spatt; brother, Ivan Von Ahsen (Alice); sister-in-law, June Von Ahsen and brother-in-law, Donald Wille.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Shorty; sons, Dennis and Randy Wille; sister, Leona Smartsy and husband, Bill; brothers, Merlin Von Ahsen and his wife, Eileen, Wilford Von Ahsen and his wife, Doris and Harvey Von Ahsen.
