Bruce was born on May 26,1950 in McGregor, the son of Howard and Mary Maxine (Lenth) Kuehl. He received his bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University. On September 13, 1975, Bruce married Jean Marie Powers.
Bruce spent his career as a Civil Engineer working for the Iowa Department of Transportation, where he was the District Construction Engineer.
He enjoyed a good game of cards, Suduko and other puzzles, bonfires, his side-by-side, the outdoors, boating and water skiing (in the day), and all things sports, especially Hawkeye football and wrestling. Most important to Bruce was his family. He was enamored with his grandson, Brooks (1). He never missed a family event. He was a favored “uncle” to many of his numerous nieces and nephews. His most memorable characteristic was his infectious laugh – when he laughed, everyone laughed.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Jean and their son, Brandon (Katherine) Kuehl, of North Liberty; his grandson, Brooks Kuehl; his mother, Mary Maxine Kuehl of Elkader; siblings, Diane Collins, Kim (Kuehl) Lamb (Tom), and Deb Stickley.
Bruce was preceded in death by his father, Howard; his brother, Brad; brothers in-law, Danny Collins and Bill Thurn; and his in-laws, Maurice and AnnaMae Powers.
