Remember When . . .
The Farm Progress Show, "The World's Fair of Agriculture", was held on three adjoining farms in Washington County, Sept. 27, 28, 29, 1977 with over 300,000 in attendance. Sharon Center United Methodist, Kalona United Methodist, and Kalona Christian Baptist Churches together ran one of the seven food tents.
Friday and Saturday were preparation days and Monday the tent was stocked with food and served to workers on the grounds. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday was the show with gates open 7AM to 5PM with food workers scheduled in two shifts; 6AM to 2PM and 10AM to 5PM (or when finished).
This allowed for a double shift 10AM to 2PM during peak hours. Seventy five were required per tent during that time. Friday and Saturday were tear down and clean-up days.MENU (Prices set and all the same)
