Annual Missions Market to help those in need
God gives us many gifts so we can be givers to those who need food, shelter and blankets.
The Council of Mid-Prairie Churches will sponsor its annual Mission Market on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the Kalona United Methodist Church, 302 4th Street, Kalona. The Market hours will be 2-4 p.m.
The Market will feature local, regional, and international missions. Some of the projects to be featured are the Wellman Summer Lunch Program, Hospice of Washington County, Empowering Haiti, Imagine No Malaria, Heifer International, Washington Area Habitat for Humanity, Tools of Hope and Blankets, Kids Against Hunger, Mennonite Central Committee 10,000 Villages Project and A2J Youth Ministry, Food for All (Kalona Summer Lunch Program).
The Market encourages attendees to think about their traditional Christmas gift giving and then to consider spending 10-25% of what is usually spent on "alternative gifts" selelcted from those offered at the Market. Remember, "alternative gifts" are easy to wrap and deliver. Many will be surprised by how well they are received by the persons honored. Best of all, the "alternative gift" will enhance the quality of life for the many persons the donation touches. Alternative gifts are a simple way to share God's love with your family and friends.
Refreshments will be served for a donation. The public is invited to attend.
