MRS. O. HOSKINS DIES SUDDENLY THIS MORNING
Death follows heart attack at home, 106 West Jefferson

Mrs. Omar HOSKINS, 48, passed away suddenly at 5:30 o'clock this morning, after suffering a heart attack only an hour before. Mrs. HOSKINS suffered a stroke in September, 1936, from which she never fully recovered.

Funeral services will be held at the First Methodist church on Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in charge of Rev. M. A. Gable. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The body will be taken from the Hoskins Funeral home to the Omar HOSKINS residence, 106 West Jefferson, on Sunday morning.

Darle I. HOSKINS was born March 22, 1892, near Fairfield, the daughter of Alonzo and Ruth GREEN. She had spent her entire life in Jefferson county.

Mrs. HOSKINS was an active member of the Philathea class of the First Methodist church, and belonged also to the Daughters of Union Veterans.

She is survived by her husband, Omar HOSKINS, a son Harold of Anthon, a daughter Darlene at home. Surviving also are two brothers, Dallas GREEN of Fairfield rural route, and Harlan GREEN of Windom, Minn.; three sisters, Mrs. W. A. CHARLTON of Fairfield, Mrs. John CONNER of Los Angeles, Calif. and Mrs. V. F. LEATHERS of Fairfield; and a number of nieces and nephews.

DARLE I. HOSKINS

Darle I. HOSKINS, daughter of Alonzo and Ruth GREEN was born March 22nd, 1892 near Fairfield. She was the youngest of a family of seven children and when about twelve years of age the family moved to Fairfield. Here she attended the public schools and also took an advanced business course thereby fitting herself for the teaching profession.

After having taught school for a number of years she was united in marriage to Omar HOSKINS October 14th, 1914 and they have made their home in this city for most of the time since.

She was the mother of three children, Harold who has a teaching position at Anthon, Iowa, and Darlene at home. A son Maynard born December 25, 1917 died in infancy.

Also preceding Mrs. HOSKINS in death were her parents Alonzo GREEN who passed away in 1929 and Ruth GREEN in 1921 both at their home, 200 W. Jefferson St.; and one sister, Mrs. Perditta CHARLTON of Hastings, Neb., in 1917.

Mrs. HOSKINS was a member of the Methodist church and took an active part in church affairs as long as she was physically able. She was a member of the Philathea Bible class and of the Daughters of Union Veterans.

She suffered a severe stroke of paralysis in 1936 and for months was confined to her bed. Gradually she regained strength and for some months was able to do some of the work of caring for her home. Her care for her loved ones never ceased and she was patient and uncomplaining in her afflictions and suffering.

Last Saturday morning, June 22 she suffered a heart attack and passed away in less than an hour.

Besides the immediate family she is survived by two brothers Dallas GREEN of Fairfield and Harlan GREEN of Windom, Minn., three sisters Mrs. W. A. CHARLTON of Fairfield, Mrs. John CONNER of Los Angeles, Cal., and Mrs. B. F. LEATHERS of Fairfield, a number of nieces and nepehws and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held June 24 at 2:30 o'clock in the First Methodist church in charge of Dr. M. A. Gable. The profusion of floral offerings indicated the high esteem accorded her by the entire community. Pallbearers were Harvey Erickson, Jack Facer, Robert Rider, T. B. Short, Ray Hemming and Roy Blosser. She was laid to rest in Evergreen cemetery.

Among the relatives and friends who attended the funeral were: Harlan GREEN, Windom, Minn., brother of Mrs. HOSKINS; Mr. and Mrs. Marshall GREEN and daughters Ardyce and Naomi, Mountain Lake, Minn.; Arvid CHARLTON, Washington, D. C.; Mr. and Mrs. Rollin Lynn, Columbus Junction; Dr. and Mrs. Chauncey Collins, Ottumwa; Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Sands, Carthage, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Oma Ulin, Winnebago, Minn., Frank HOSKINS and daughter Jean, Brighton; Mr. and Mrs. Ross NEAL, Des Moines; Mrs. Anna NEAL and Ralph NEAL, Linneus, Mo.; Mrs. Ellen Singleton, Richland, Mrs. Millard Jones, Pleasant Plain; Miss Dorothy Turner, Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Cassidy, Milton; Mr. and Mrs. Nile Cassidy and son, Gary, Milton; Mrs. Marie Zeitler, Milton; Mrs. Hollis Wells, Milton; Harold Cassidy, Milton; Mrs. Tom Barnes, Ottumwa; Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Agnew, Donnellson; Mrs. Elsie Horning, Richland; Mrs. John Pendergraft, Richland; Mrs. Norma Caviness, Cedar Rapids.

To All Whom It May Concern:

Notice is hereby given that an instrument, purporting to be the last Will and Testament of Darle I. HOSKINS, Deceased, is now on file in the office of the Clerk of the District Court of Jefferson County, and that Monday, August 5, A. D. 1940 at 9:30 o'clock A. M. has been set for proof and final hearing of same.

Witness my hand and the seal of said Court, this 10th day of July, 1940.
