Killed By The Cars – Harrison Tressler, 81 years old, brother of Thomas Tressler, who resides southeast of Ira, was struck by a freight car which was being “kicked down” on a side track at Ira last Tuesday afternoon, as he started to cross the C.G.W. tracks near the depot, and the car passing over him ct off his right foot, crushed the left one and inflicted other injuries from the effects of which Mr. Tressler died the same afternoon. The coroner was notified and an inquest was held, the verdict being accidental death, and no blame attached to the railway company.
Mr. Tressler saw the car approaching him and apparently had ample time to get out of its way, but he became alarmed, turned about and endeavored to get back over the track. The car struck him in the back. He had been a citizen of Iowa but six months, having come from Illinois.
