Richard “Rick” L. Crook, 78, of Newton died on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 14, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory followed by a lunch. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, November 13, at the funeral home. Memorials to the Jasper County Courthouse Christmas Light Fund or in Richard’s name (checks made payable to Debbie Gulling) may be left at the funeral home.

Rick, the son of Calvin and Ruth (Keith) Logue, was born on May 18, 1946 in Knoxville. He grew up in Reasnor and Newton. At the age of 17, Rick began working for the city of Newton. In 1967, Rick was married to Karen Quick and they were blessed with one daughter, Deborah. On May 14, 1971, Rick was united in marriage with Glenda Tipton in Newton and their son, Richard completed the family. Rick continued to work for the city of Newton for 38 years working his way up to Superintendent of Streets at the time of his retirement in 2001. He was a member of the NRA. Rick enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on cars, and camping. He especially loved time spent with his grandchildren.

Rick was survived by his two children, Deborah (Tony) Gulling of Newton and Richard (Amy) Crook of Newton; grandchildren, Josh Berger (Kylie Hodge), Jacob (Jenni) Berger, Jaise Gulling (Sabrina Reed), James Gulling (Emmalie Russell), Mackenzie Crook, and Riley Crook; great-grandchildren, Layla, Jackson, and Jordan; his siblings, Susie (Jerry) Wallace of Colo, Ed (Marla) Logue of Newton, Della (Patrick) Payton of Newton, and Terry (Becky) Logue of Newton; and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Glenda in 2019; and his siblings, Kenny Logue, Benny Logue, Doug Logue, and Lola Lamb.
