Darlene Ema (Creed) DeBolt passed peacefully on September 29, 2011, after a ten year battle with Alzheimer’s. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Mday, October 3, 2011, at Merle Hay Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior. Entombment will follow at Merle Hay Mausoleum.
Darlene was born on November 13, 1917 in Lynnville, Iowa to Frank and Elizabeth Creed. She graduated from Newton High School in 1934 and married her high school sweetheart Robert DeBolt in 1935. They were blessed with two children, Donna and David and were married 57 years. She was an active member of the Bethany Reformed Church for more than 40 years.
Darlene is survived by her daughter, Donna Reed, sister, Betty Jacobs; grandchildren, Cindy (Steven Lamer) Reed, David (Mary Kay) DeBoldt, Doug DeBolt, Chuck Reed, Christi (Brad) Young, Dennis (Shannon) DeBolt and DeLisa DeBolt-Weyrich, twelve great-grandchildren and twelve nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert DeBolt; son, David DeBolt; grandson, Rick Reed and granddaughter, Deanna DeBolt.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Reformed Church in Darlene’s name..
