Rosa L. Patterson Services Held Jan. 15
Rosa L. Shultz Patterson, 90, longtime resident of Newton, died Wednesday, January 13, at Skiff Medical Center of congestive heart failure.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 15, at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton.
The Rev. Jerry Brown, senior pastor of the First United Methodist Church, conducted services. Burial was in Newton Union Cemetery.
Memorials in her name will be accepted.
Survivors are three sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Evelyn of Spokane, Wash., Donald and Heidi of Newton, and Ralph of Platteville, Colo., four daughters, Julia Leitzinger of Des Moines, Doris Patterson and Lois Chapman, both of Newton, and Jane Grim of Colfax; a step-daughter, Veva Falls of Des Moines; 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Also surviving are two brothers, Elmer Shultz of Livingston, Texas and Roy Shultz of Elk City, Kans., and a sister, Margaret Shultz.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Troy a son, Raymond, and two brothers, Frank Shultz and Floyd Shultz.
Mrs. Patterson, who had been a laundry operator at the Maytag Hotel laundry, later worked at MG Laundry.
The daughter of Charles Burling and Bell Curtis Shultz, she was born Aug. 9, 1902, in Norman, Okla.
