Florence Anna Moellers, 86, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Heritage Specialty Care. Friends may call from 9 – 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Military rites performed by the Marine Corps League. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, is assisting the family.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Moellers of Cedar Rapids; sons, Paul (Linda) Moellers of Cedar Rapids, Brian Moellers of Madison, Wisconsin; sibling, Carl (Sandy) VanDee; sisters-in-law, Wanda VanDee, Betty VanDee, and Elizabeth VanDee; and grandson, Carter Moellers.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Mary Brown, Betty McGee, Sarah Martens, Helen Mendenhall, Edward VanDee, Donald VanDee, Arnold VanDee, Ida Mahan, Grace Hotchkiss, Andrew VanDee, and John VanDee; brothers-in-law, Robert Mahan, Fred Hotchkiss, and Howard Brown; and sister-in-law, Beverly VanDee.

Florence was born on June 25, 1938, near Parnell, Iowa, the daughter of Augustine J. and Margaret (Holderness) VanDee. She graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in June of 1956. Florence married Robert Leonard Moellers on September 9, 1967, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. She worked at Guaranty Bank & Trust, CR Community Schools (Taylor), GC Services, and Saturn of Cedar Rapids.

Florence was a veteran as she served in the Marine Corps for three years. She was a member of Wild Rose Chapter of Iowa, lifetime of the Women Marine Association, and Charter member of the Women’s Memorial of Washington, DC, lifetime member of the Marine Corps League Cedar Valley Detachment, member of Five Seasons Waves and lifetime of Waves National. She also belonged to the Legion of Mary at St. Ludmila’s Parish and volunteered at Mercy Hospital.

Her interests were her family, jigsaw puzzles, saving obituaries for Grout Museum, and sending copies of them to the Women’s Memorial, Navy Memorial, National Guard Memorial, and entering WWII veterans at their memorial.
