PRIVATE ANDREW BOYD
Andrew E. Boyd, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew E. Boyd* of near Stanhope, died at Camp Dodge, Thursday, October 10th, his death being caused by an illness with pneumonia. The funeral services were held Tuesday, October 15th, at the Story City cemetery, being a of a private nature owing to the state quarantine.
Andrew Boyd was born Dec. 27, 1896, being thus only a little less that 22 years of age at the time of his untimely demise. He entered the military service of his country on Sept. 5th, and was a member of Co. 53, 14th Battalion, 163 Depot Brigade, Camp Dodge. He always deported himself as a true and conscientious soldier, and contracted his fatal sickness at the camp while in the performance of his duties caring for other influenza victims. He had given his life in the service of his country no less than had his death occurred on the battle field in Europe.
