Richard Foster was born August 29, 1949, to Charles “Everett” and Lucille (Moats) Foster at Marshalltown Iowa Hospital. A sister, Phyllis, welcomed him home. He passed away December 30, 2024, at Hallmar Village of Marion, Iowa.

He graduated in 1967 from Eldora High School in Eldora, Iowa, and from North Iowa Area Community Collage (NIACC) of Mason City in 1969 with a degree in Mechanical Drafting. He travelled the country, starting out at Collins Radio and then to Texas, Minnesota, Ohio, Florida, Indiana, and Wisconsin as a Mechanical Design Engineer for firetrucks. He graduated December, 1998, from the University of South Florida with a degree in Information Systems and worked for John Deere in Urbandale, Iowa. He worked there until retirement in November of 2016. He had recently moved from Waukee, Iowa, and enjoyed life after downsizing from a house to an apartment. He married Lorraine “Lori” Becker on October 4, 1970.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years; brothers-in-law Bill (Christiane) Harner and Leighton (Michele) Becker; sister-in-law, Elaine (Tom) Bridge; and nieces and nephews, Tracy Chandler, Susan Bridge, and Steve Bridge.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Phyllis Harner (2017); and nephew, Doug Harner (2019).
