of BrandausHerman Brandau of Osage Elected President of Family.
Members of the Brandau family held their third annual reunion Sunday in East park, with 132 members and friends present. During the business meeting which followed the picnic dinner Herman Brandau of Osage was elected president to succeed George Brandau. Adam Schmidt of Floyd was reelected secretary and Miss Lisetta Schmidt of Floyd, re-elected historian.
An entertainment committee was named to include Mrs. Luella Burnett of Nora Springs, Otto Brandau of Rudd, and Herman Brandau of Osage.
It was voted to change the date of the meeting to the first Sunday in August. Honors were given to Fred Brandau of Rudd who served under Kaiser Wilhelm the first in 1881 and whose son, Peter, served in the World War, to Bernice and Donna Jean Brandau of Rudd and Lois Apel of Nora Springs, great-great-grandchildren of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Lohr who came, to Mitchell county in 1856 with an ox team, to Fred Brandau of Rudd, the oldest member present, to Alton /Roger Philipp of Rudd, the youngest, and to the Rev. J. H. Brandau of Baileyville, Illinois, who with his family came the greatest distance, 240 miles, to attend the meeting.
The Brandaus are descended from William and Frederic Brandau, who were born in Germany. William in 1823 and Frederic in 1832.
