Freda Marie Jones, daughter of Fred Wesley and Blanche Burchett Gill was born November 8, 1922 soutwest of Van Wert, Iowa in Decatur County, Iowa and passed away January 12, 2000 at the Extended Care Unit of the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, Iowa at the age of 77 years.

She attended the Van Wert Schools and graduated from Osceola High School. She married Michael John Jones May 4, 1942 at Bethany, Missouri and they became they parents of three children; Ron, Mary and Sandra. She also had a special foreign exchange student, Faiza Derbel of Tunisia, Africa, who lived with her in the 1977-1978 school. They kept in very close contact over the years and had a special relationship.

Freda lived on a farm south of Murray, Iowa where she and Michael farmed until his death in 1975. She continued living there until moving to Osceola, Iowa about ten years ago. She was a homemaker and worked many years as a teller for the Clarke County State Bank in Murray, Iowa. She enjoyed playing in various bridge clubs; quilting at the Community Center and playing cards with a Hopeville Ladies Club.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Michael in 1975 and her sister, Helen Wade in 1999.

Mrs. Jones is survived by her son, Ron Jones and wife Joanne of Murray, Iowa; two daughters, Mary Brooks and husband Roger of Adel, Iowa, and Sandra Jones of Ankeny, Iowa; six grandchildren, Anthony M. Jones and wife Jody of Murray, Iowa; Daniel J. Jones of Murray, Shari D. Hutzell and husband Brian of Adel, Iowa; Jacqueline DeVore of Earham, Iowa; Teresa Michelle Bobadilla and husband Cesario of Pflugerville, Texas; Diane M. Means of Ankeny, Iowa; ten great grandchildren; Austin Quinn, Zachery and Bailey Hutzell all of Adel, Iowa; Chelsea and Brandi DeVore, Christopher, Brandon and Kevin Bobadilla all of Pflugerville, Texas, Jackie Means and Wade Freeman of Ankeny, Iowa, and her sister, Evelyn O'Neal of Marshalltown, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
