Leora Irene Maffett, daughter of Charles and Iva (Loomis) Little was born January 10, 1924 in Clarke County, Iowa. She passed from this life on March 10, 2007 at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, Iowa at the age of 83 years.

Leora graduated with the Murray High School class of 1943. She was united in marriage to Ronald R. Maffett on August 2, 1947 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. The union was blessed by two children, Thomas and Kathi.

Leora and Ron owned and operated the Murray Café for many years until 1970. Leora enjoyed sewing and turned the joy into a way to show support for her community. She made many alterations for people, but always had time to help with school needs, sewing torn uniforms or adding patches. She kept the Murray Legion flags in good condition, repairing seams when needed. When not using her hands to mend and repair; she enjoyed time in her flower garden tending to her flowers or feeding and watching birds. She was a member of the Murray Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ronald; son-in-law, Roger Gaumer; sisters, Eva Joan Little and Charlene Denly.

She leaves to cherish her memory, son Thomas Maffett and wife Gloria of Lorimor; daughter, Kathi Gaumer of Murray; grandchildren, Jill Maffett and fiancé Chris Davis of Des Moines; Tracy Maffett and fiancé Bryce Grail of Ames; Jeremy Gaumer and wife Wendy of Des Moines; Jacki Rayburn and husband Matt of Manhatten, KS; 2 great granddaughters, Amber Gaumer and Avi Rayburn; sister, Elsie O’Neall of Roseville, IL; brother, Paul Little and wife Nila of Creston, other relatives and friends.
