The Turk Reunion Held Sunday, August 23 [1931]
Sunday, August 23, was enjoyed to the fullest by the reunion of the E. H. Turk [Edward Harrison] family of Iowa. Mr. And Mrs. [Ann Edwards] E. H. Turk who are both in the 91st year, were among their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren that surrounded the long table loaded with everything to eat and enjoyed it as much as any. They were the two oldest people in the Osceola Community park on that day. This is to prove that even though we grow old the thrill of a picnic dinner will stay with us. The occasion was also in honor of the 15th wedding anniversary of Mr. And Mrs. Lafe [Lena] Gibson. Mrs. Gibson is the oldest daughter of A. H. Turk [Alfred Henry]. They were presented with a crystal candy bowl by Mrs. Gibson’s grandparents that is forty years old and was greatly appreciated. There were 33 helped eat the beautiful cakes and ice cream besides the chickens, salads and watermelons. In the afternoon more of the relatives came, making 42 in all. Those present were:
Mr. And Mrs. E. H. [Edward Harrison & Ann] Turk
Mr. And Mrs. A. H. [Alfred Henry & May] Turk and family
Mr. And Mrs. Frank Turk and son, Boyd
Mr. Leslie Turk
Mr. and Mrs. Claude [Martha] Turk and Gertrude
Mr. And Mrs. Milo Crawford and family
And Mrs. Ray Thomas and son Kenneth
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Turk and
Mrs. Sylvia Turk, all of Osceola;
Mr. And Mrs. R. A. [Rueben Alfred & Susan] Turk of Mt. Pleasant
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. [Bill & Eula] Short and son Billy
Mr. And Mrs. James Saddoris and family, both of Des Moines;
Mr. and Mrs. Lafe [Lena] Gibson and family of Humeston,
And Mr. And Mrs. Everett [Vera] Zike of Fairfield.
The day was greatly enjoyed and all went to their various homes feeling that the day was one to remember awhile.
