Last rites for Melvin Donald Sisler, 65, a native of Stanwood, were held at Lakewood, Calif. Jan. 3, 1990. Burial was in Forest Lawn cemetery, Lakewood. Mr. Sisler died at the Doctor's hospital, Lakewood, Dec. 31.

The son of Bryon and Olive Sisler, he was born at Stanwood March 1, 1924. He graduated from Stanwood high school and entered the navy in September, 1941. He received the Purple Heart for a wound received in action in North Africa.

He married Florence Nelson in South Bend, Ind. June 17, 1944. They moved to California where he was employed by the postal service. He retired in 1979.

He is survived by a daughter, Janet Hough, Morena Valley, Calf.; a brother, Robert B., Long Beach, Calif.; 2 sisters, Maxine Winslow and Imogene Phelps, Tipton and 4 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and 2 brothers.
