Emily was born in Indiantown, Twp, Ill, near Providence. She was my 2nd great grandmother. Her parents were John and Jane LaFever Carmichael. She was the 5th of 6 children: Jacob, William, Johanna,Isaac, and Phoebe. Sometime before 1857 the Carmichael family moved to Keokuk, IA where Emily met and married Manoah P Harris on December 3 1857. Manoah was mustered out of Knox County for the Civil War on Dec 17 1862. They still managed to have a family of 6 children, including my Great Grandmother, Jennie Harris Councilman who was born in 1859. Even though Emily lived to the ripe old age of 97, she was still buried beside Manoah in Cass county. I look forward to seeing their resting place. ~~~Jane Councilman Weaver~~~3/16/201
