Travis Paul Kirby, 46, of Independence, IA, passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 9, 2025.
Travis was born on February 26, 1979, to Steve and Marvis “Marty” (Straw) Kirby. He grew up in Quasqueton, IA, and attended the East Buchanan Community Schools. Travis worked for Larson Construction as a Heavy Equipment Operator for over twenty years. He was a skilled operator and loved digging in the dirt.

Travis will be missed. He will always be remembered for his kind heart, and willingness to help those he loved.
He is survived by his three sons; Jakub Connor, Zachary Kirby, and Zane Kirby, his mother, Marty Kirby, a brother, Kota Kirby, a sister, Cheyenne Kirby, his aunts and uncles, several nieces and nephews, and a few special friends that loved him very much.
Travis is preceded in death by his father, Steve Kirby, a cousin Clint “Bubba” Straw, an aunt, Kathleen Straw, and an uncle, Ronnie Straw.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 PM until 4 PM on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the VFW Hall in Independence, IA. The Reiff Family Center is assisting the family with arrangements.
