Tom C. Huston, 67, of Independence, IA, died on Friday, February 14, 2025, at his home in Independence, IA following a long battle with Esophageal cancer.

Tom was born on January 14, 1958, in Anamosa, IA, the son of Harold C. and Idalene (Westphal) Huston. In 1976, Tom graduated from Anamosa High School and went on to attend Waldorf College and later graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1980, with a degree in accounting.

On March 14, 1981, Tom married Andrea J. Wester, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Porte City, IA. They made their home in Iowa Falls/Alden, IA for a short time, before moving to Independence in 1986. Tom worked as an accountant/office manager for several businesses in the Cedar Valley for many years. He retired in 2023.

He loved spending time with his sons and for many years he coached their youth sports and was a cub scout leader.

Tom was an active member of the Independence Community. He volunteered at the Independence Community schools as a Mentor and served on the Independence City Council representing the 5th ward for several years.

He is survived by his wife, Andrea Huston, Independence, IA, his three sons; Kevin (Angela Arana-Morales) Huston, Plano, TX, Kelly (Katy) Huston, Ankeny, IA, and Kyle (Emma) Huston, Des Moines, IA, three grandchildren, Caden Huston, Cohen Huston, and Carter Huston, two brothers, Larry (Liz) Huston, Cedar Rapids, IA, and Steve Huston, Portland, OR, and many nieces and nephews.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Idalene Huston, and a brother, David Huston.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12 PM on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the Reiff Family Center – Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence, IA. Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the service on Saturday.
