Evelyn Louise Locke, 85 years old, of Independence IA, died of natural causes, Friday, November 8, 2024, at the Rehab Center of Independence.

Evelyn was born June 5, 1939, in Independence, IA, the daughter of Raymond Charles Locke and Ruby Gertrude (Henderson) Locke. She attended school in Independence and graduated with the high school class of 1957.

She was a bookkeeper at Greenley Development Company in Independence, Applied Power in Menomonee Falls, WI, and Brese Automotive in Iowa City, IA, before returning to Greenley Development Company, where she retired from in 2002.

Evelyn was simply the nicest person you would ever meet. She would do anything for anyone, especially her family. She enjoyed baking cookies, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes, and taking day trips throughout the area.

She is survived by her brother Raymond Locke of Waverly, IA. She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond, in 1977; her mother Ruby, in 1986; two sisters, Lois Locke in 1975 and Betty Locke in 2021; and one brother in infancy, David Locke.

Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at White Funeral Home, Independence.

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. – Thursday, November 14, 2024, at the Oakland Cemetery in Manchester, IA.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
