ASTOUNDING ROBBERY- Yesterday morning a telegraphic dispatch was received in town that the safe in the Buchanan County Treasurer's Office at Independence, had been robbed of $20,000 in greenbacks and gold. The key-hole of the safe had been knocked in, so as to make the opening larger, after which powder was placed in the aperture, and the lock blown open. The manner in which the robbery was executed, showed that it had been done by someone who had the tools for such purposes and who also had an intimate knowledge of the position and condition of things about the office. No clue has been obtained to the perpetrator. A reward of $1,000 has been offered, and every exertion is being made to detect the robbers.
