Town Destroyed by Fire
Waterloo, May 2. – The town of Kensett, north of Nora Junction, on the B. C. R. & N. is in ashes. The operator gave the first news when he wired to the chief dispatcher “The town is on fire.” A half hour later came another, “It’s getting hot here the depot is on fire. May have to leave you.” The third and last came a few minutes later – “Must leave you – too hot for me.” Twenty residents and several business blocks were destroyed, the loss reaching $50,000. The fire was started in a livery barn by an incendiary.
