Elias Mitchell was my 3x grt grpa. He served in the Civil War, enlisted in Co C, 36 Inf Reg in Centerville, was captured & died in AR in 1864. His wife was Catherine. She had 4 children from a previous marriage, last name Winters. Children were Effa Jane, Jerusha, John & Rachel. Then she & Elias had Sarah, Elizabeth, twins James & Ann, Christopher C & Mary. Catherine & the Mitchell kids were in Wayne Co in 1870. Did any Winters kids stay in Appanoose Co? Any info greatly appreciated.
