Waukon, Ia., Nov. 12 - Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon for Mrs. Julia Fossum, well known resident of Paint Creek township, who died Saturday night at he home of her son, Henry, in Paint Creek township. Services were conducted at the home and at the Old West Paint Creek church by the Rev. A.P. Leas. Burial was made in the West Paint Creek cemetery.

Mrs. Fossum, who maiden name was Miss Julia Sanderson, was born in Norway, Jan. 2, 1844, and with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elling Sanderson, came to Allamakee county, settling in Paint Creek township.

On Sept. 30, 1862, she was married to Hans F. Fossum and to them were born eleven children, four of whom preceded her in death. Those surviving are Hanry G., Theodore H., Otto H., Adolph, Mrs. Tilda Sunderman, Mrs. Belle Bergh and Mrs. Cora Gilbertson all of Waukon and vicinity. One sister, Mrs. L.O. Rud of Lansing, also survives with a large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
