Mary Jane McKee, 88, of Stuart, Iowa passed away Sunday, December 18, 2011 at the Stuart Community Care Center.

Mary Jane was born July 16, 1923, in Stuart, Iowa to Thomas Edward and Sara (Sadie) Smith Lydon. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School and graduated from Stuart Community High School in 1941. She lost her mother at the age of 13 at which time she took on the responsibility of raising her younger brother. Mary Jane was united in marriage to Raymond Delmar McKee on August 11, 1942 in San Diego, California. After a short stay in San Diego, Mary Jane returned to Stuart to live until Raymond would join her after he was discharged from the military. They made their home together in Stuart, Iowa where they became the proud parents of four children. Mary Jane was employed at United Super Save and later at Al's Super Value where she worked for 30 years. Her warm smile, positive attitude and love for others touched the lives of many in the community.

Mary Jane was a life long member of All Saints Catholic Church. She was very involved in the church and community where she was an active member of the Altar and Rosary Society and Catholic Daughters, Garden Club, the Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed helping to organize bingo for the residents at Stuart Community Care Center. When she was not busy volunteering or working she loved spending time with her family and friends, working in her garden, and playing cards.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Raymond, one grandson, Ryan Blomquist, son-in-law, Steve Blomquist and sister-in-law Dorine Lydon.

Mary Jane leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, David (Patty) McKee of Omaha, Nebraska, Diane (Howard) Messinger of Casey, Iowa, Debbie Blomquist of Bellevue, Washington, and Dan (Sharon) McKee of Geneva, Illinois; grandchildren Theresa (Jeff) Croonquist, Tom Messinger, Todd Messinger, Michelle (Torin) Blount, Amy Bouasy, Scott (Jennifer) Blomquist, Chad Blomquist, Carey (Antony) Braun, Matthew McKee, Kalie (Tory)Greiner, and Laura McKee; one brother, Tom Lydon of Portland, Oregon; 15 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends all of whom will miss her greatly.
