Widow Dies on Day of Husband’s Scheduled Burial

Orient, IA (AP) – Mrs. Emerson Stowell, 61, died unexpectedly Thursday afternoon just 20 minutes before funeral services for her husband were scheduled to begin at the Orient Congregational church.

Friends and relatives had assembled at the church to attend last rites for Mr. Stowell when word came of his widow’s death. The service was called off and a double funeral will be held in the church Friday afternoon.

Stowell died Monday at Berthoud, CO, of a heart attack and Mrs. Stowell accompanied the body to Orient, their former home. The Stowells also formerly lived at Greenfield before moving to Colorado.
