FORMER ANITA LADY
FLIES TO GREENFIELD

The cry of "bootlegger" was heard
at Greenfield Monday when an air-
plane was seen to dive gracefully to-
ward a pasture at the edge of town.
A number of the town's citizens got
into automobiles and hurried to the
field where the airship landed.

The men were greatly surprised to
recognize a former Greenfield girl as
she climbed out of the machine. She
was Mrs. H. T. Vernon, formerly Miss
Algera Brown of Greenfield and
Anita.

Mrs. Vernon flew to Greenfield
from Ardmore, Oklahoma, where her
husband is a banker, to see her fath-
er, A. R. Brown. Mr. Brown had be-
come seriously ill and a message was
sent to Mrs. Vernon to come at
once.

The distance by railroad from Ard-
more to Greenfield is about 1000 miles
according to Mrs. Vernon, and she
said: "I flew here in six and a half
hours.

Mr. Brown passed away at 2:15 a.
m. Monday.
