SHELLSBURG; August 12 Roy E. Harbert, 65 -prominent Shellsburg business man died this morning at his home here after a long period of ill health. Mr. Harbert was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. D.K. Harbert. He was born at Alison, Ia., on June 18, 1882 and was brought to Shellsburg by his parents while still a baby. He had lived here ever since. For the last 40 years he was in the insurance business.
In 1905 Mr. Harbert married Lora Maxson. He is survived by his wife and a daughter Mrs. Leonia Linder, a grandson, Richard Harbert Linder, and a brother Rex of Monrovia, Cal.
Deceased was prominent in Shellsburg civic affairs. He was a past secretary of the commercial club and for a number of years was treasurer of the consolidated school district. Burial will be in Shellsburg. Funeral services were to be announced at the Fry-Holland funeral home in Vinton.
