Torfinn Anvesson / Anvidson
Last Will and Testament



In the name of God xxxxx
I Torfin Anvesson of the township of Hanover, County of Allamakee and State of Iowa at the age of fifty two (52) years and being of sound mind to make public and declare this my last will and testament in the manner following that is to say.

I give and bequeath to my Wife Anna Anvesson the following described read and residual Estate to wit::

The East half of the South West quarter of section nine (9) town ninety nine (99) Range six (6) West and also the North West quarter of Section sixteen (16) town ninety nine (99) Range six (6) West containing Two
Hundred and forty (240) acres more or less, and I also five and bequeath to my said Wife Anna Anvesson all the rest of my personal property who I hereby appoint sole executrix of this last will. In witness whereof I have herewith set my hand this 26th day of February in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventy, 1870.

Allamakee County I J M Pratt, Clerk of the Co Court in and for said county & State, hereby certify that on the 7th day of October 1873, the forgoing instrument purporting to be the last will and testament of Torfinn
Anvesson, late of said County “deced” was by the said court duly allowed & admitted to Probate, its execution having been duly proved according to law.
Witness J M Pratt, Clerk of said Court and the seal thereof hereto affixed
at Waukon this 31st day of Oct 1873.

notes: The difference in the surname spelling Anvidson and Anvesson, is due to the spelling of the Fathers name, Torfin's Father was named Anve in the Bygdebok and Anved in the 1805 Norway census, so both names have been used. (see also land records)
