year. Their twin daughters were born in OK. Lloyd was discharged in 1953. Lloyd and Betty farmed the home farm in Bloomfield Twp. until they moved to Castalia so their son Kale could take over the farm. Betty is self-employed as a homemaker/home health aide. She is also one of the area’s top lefse makers. Lloyd is still helping his son with the farming. Lloyd has become a collector of antique Minneapolis Moline tractors. He and his son have collected and restored enough tractors to start a museum on their farm near Castalia. Lloyd and Betty are members of Zion Lutheran Church at Castalia. They have 6 children: Debra Kay and Dianne Fay (twins) Kristi Lee, Kale, Neal and Ryan. Debra Kay married Alvin Hageman 26 Nov 1977. Their children are: Amber Marie: Adam John; Ashley Kay; and April Ann. Deb is employed as a cosmetologist in Decorah. The family is farming near Ossian. Dianne Kay married Steven Hageman 16 Feb 1980. Their children are; Stephen Jo; and Timothy Steven. Dianne is self employed in cosmetology at Ossian. Steve works at Camcar in Decorah. The family lives in Ossian. Kristi Lee married Harold Hageman 24 Jun 1978. Their children are: Trevor Phillip; Tara Lee; Trisha Kay; and Tabitha Jean. They live on a farm near Ossian. Kristi received her R.N. Degree from N.I.C.C. on 20 Dec 1995. Kale Eugene married Linda Jean Engelhardt 16 Jul 1983. Their children are: Thomas Wayne; Tiffany Jean, born 1988 and died at birth; Michelle Lynn; and Andrew Kale. Linda is a teacher at Postville Community School. The family lives on the home farm in Bloomfield Twp. Neal Thomas married Berit Solum 8 Feb 1992. They have no children. Montgomery, Barbara Louise (Hook)(Henry Montgomery) Barbara Louise Hook, daughter of Frank Gauss and Mildred (Kelly) Hook was born at Burlington, IA. The family lived first on the Hook farm near Wapello, IA, then moved into Wapello in the early 1930’s. The Hook family came to IA from Augusta Co., VA in 1825. Previously they had emigrated from Antrim County in Northern Ireland in 1740. The early family was Presbyterian. Barbara attended the Wapello schools, graduating in 1943. She then entered the University of Iowa School of Liberal Arts in 1943. In 1944 she joined the Cadet Nurse Corp, attended the School of Nursing at the University of Iowa and graduated in 1947. She was then employed as night supervisor on the surgical wards of the University Hospital. On 14 Aug 1948 she married Henry Irving Montgomery at the Wapello Methodist Church. They moved to New Orleans where Henry became a student at Tulane University and Barbara worked as a registered nurse at the Oschner Clinic and later at Southern Baptist Hospital. Barbara and Henry returned to Decorah, IA in 1951 and lived there until 1965. Five children were born—all at the Decorah hospital. Priscilla, born and died 2 Dec 1952, Barbara Ruth, Michael Henry, Kelly Ann, and Andrew Stuart. Barbara H. Montgomery During their Decorah residency Barbara was active in the Girl Scout movement as leader and council member, an organizer and member of the Evening Hospital Unit, initiated into Chapter G.O. of PEO, a member of Monday Club and participated in numerous parent related school activities. Henry and Barbara moved their family to Europe in early 1964 and established a home in a former Nazi Gestapo headquarters villa in Opicina, a small village in the hills overlooking Trieste. That fall they leased a condominium in Trieste and enrolled all the children (except Andrew) in the English speaking United Nations Nuclear Research School for Dependents. Andrew attended the Italian Asilo (kindergarten). Barbara became a member of an International Bridge club playing in Italian. She and her husband traveled extensively on both sides of the “Iron Curtain.” They returned to Decorah and the family home at 405 W. Main in the fall of 1966 when all the children were again enrolled in Decorah schools. All rejoined their prior Decorah activities. In the fall of 1967 they moved to Charles City, IA. Barbara continued her parent/school activities there. In addition to PEO she became a member and later president of the City Improvement Association, as well as a member of the Mayor’s Redevelopment Council. Barbara and Henry moved to a Bloomington, MN condominium in 1978 and have resided there since. She has been a board member, Program Chairman and Senior Vice-President of the 1500 member Woman’s Club of Minneapolis. She has been a board member and Chairman of the Pillsbury Club, a residence with dining facili M-30 dates of people that maybe living is not included.
