Lutkenhaus, Kenneth and Debra (Huinker)

Kenneth Rudy Lutkenhaus is the son of Rudy and Ethel Lutkenhaus of Festina, IA. Kenneth attended school at South Winneshiek, Calmar, IA. He married Debra Kay Huinker 8 May 1976 at St. Francis DeSales in Ossian.

Debra Kay Huinker is the daughter of Charles and Edna (Brincks) Huinker. She was born at Decorah and attended school at DeSales and South Winneshiek, Calmar.

Kenneth is a mechanic and is employed at Camcar in Decorah. Debra is postmaster at Marquette, IA. They live in Calmar and are the parents of two children: Carrie and Lindsay. Both were born at the Winneshiek Co. Memorial Hospital.

Lynch, Archibald and Lora (Royce)

Born in Blairstown, IA 8 May 1892, Archibald Campbell Lynch was the son of Patrick J. Lynch whose parents had emigrated from County Cork, Ireland.

Patrick Lynch had run away to join the Army during the Civil War at the early age of 14. He was caught and sent back home. He was a self-taught lawyer and practiced in Blairstown.

Archibald attended school at the University of Iowa and the University of Chicago and was admitted to practice law in the State of Iowa and the State of Illinois in 1920. He moved to Decorah where he opened his law practice half days and also taught English at the Decorah High School. He married Lora Royce of Naperville, IL, a teacher in the Decorah School System. They had 3 sons: Robert, Thomas and Donald. During his full-time practice of law, he was also city attorney for several years. He was joined in practice by his son, Tom, in 1949.

The following is an excerpt from a resolution written by Floyd Pearson, the then secretary of the Winn. Co. Bar Association, upon Arch’s death 12 Sep 1954: “Mr. Lynch was an excellent lawyer. His work was characterized by industry and thoroughness. His character and code of honor were inflexible and unyielding. His sense of professional ethics was keen. He was persevering and stable in his character. He was a learned and perceiving student of the law and an effective advocate. His work and studies were often interspersed with unmatchable humor and wit. He was loved and respected by all members of the bar and judiciary who knew him.”

Lynch, Thomas and Florence (Nelson)

Thomas Campbell Lynch was born 5 Jan 1923 in Decorah, IA, the son of Archibald and Lora Lynch. He attended the Decorah schools, where he graduated salutatorian of his high school class. He then went on to Luther College for 1 year before entering the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland where he graduated 7 Jun 1944. On that same date he married Florence Nelson, also a Decorah native. During his stint in the Navy he was assigned as the Skipper of amphibious ships, starting with the rank of Lieutenant and during his tenure rose to the rank of Lt. Commander. His entire Navy service was in the Pacific. At the end of World War II he opted to retire from the Navy, going to school to acquire a law degree at the University of Iowa. He graduated in 1949. At that time he joined his father’s law practice. He was later recalled into the Navy during the Korean War, again serving in the Pacific. He served as both the city attorney for the City of Decorah and the County Attorney for the County of Winneshiek during his practice. The Lynchs had 3 children: Lawrence, Timothy and Julie. Tim joined the law firm in September of 1979. Tom passed away 18 Dec 1979.

Timothy Campbell Lynch was born in Decorah, IA, the son of Thomas C. and Florence (Nelson) Lynch. Tim was educated in the Decorah school system, graduating from Decorah High School as salutatorian of his class in May of 1968. He then went on to obtain his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Iowa, where he participated in Air Force ROTC and received his commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force at the time of his graduation in May of 1972. Before entering the Air Force he was granted an educational delay to attend law school at the University of Iowa Law School where he graduated
