Frederich was the son of Johann and Katharina (Brandmann) Evermann. Wilhelmina was the daughter of John Baethke. The couple emigrated from Niendorf, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany in 1891 with 3 sons: William, Rudolph and Fred. A daughter, Cynthia (Baltz), was born in 1895 and a son Walter on 9 Jan 1900 in Post Twp., Allamakee Co. Fie was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church and attended the Postville Public Schools. On 25 May 1927 he married Florence Miene at her parents' farm home in Grand Meadow Twp., Clayton Co. near Postville, IA. The young couple farmed for 8 years near Postville.
Florence was born 9 Jun 1907 in Bloomfield Twp., Winneshiek Co., the youngest of 5 children born to Frederick (18 Jul 1874-21 Jun 1943) and Maria (Reinhardt) Miene (29 May 1874-27 Feb 1959). Florence’s father, Frederick, was the son of Wilhelm and Wilhelmina (Reinhardt) Miene. He emigrated from Langendamm, Province of Hannover, Germany in 1892. Frederick became a USA citizen 11 May 1921. After a happy retirement spent fishing, traveling and playing cards, Walter passed away 13 Jan 1980. Florence was a seamstress until her death 4 Jan 1983.
